The Langtang Valley Trek is an 8-day Himalayan adventure that immerses trekkers in breathtaking natural beauty, rich culture, and diverse wildlife. Nestled north of Kathmandu, Langtang Valley is renowned for its serene landscapes, snow-capped peaks, lush forests, and traditional Tamang villages. The trek begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi, passing through winding roads and rivers, giving trekkers a first glimpse of the Himalayan foothills. From Syabrubesi, the trail meanders through dense rhododendron and pine forests, terraced fields, and small villages, gradually ascending towards Lama Hotel and Langtang Village.
One of the highlights of the trek is reaching Kyanjin Gompa at 3,870 meters, a quaint village surrounded by majestic peaks such as Langtang Lirung and Ganjala Peak. From Kyanjin Gompa, trekkers can opt for a challenging climb to Kyanjin Ri (4,773m) or Tserko Ri, both offering panoramic views of the Langtang range and neighboring Himalayan peaks. Along the trail, travelers experience cultural immersion, visiting ancient monasteries, encountering local monks, and observing traditional Buddhist rituals. Wildlife enthusiasts may spot red pandas, Himalayan monals, and other endemic species, making it a trek that combines adventure, nature, and cultural learning. Nepal Planet Treks & Expedition ensures every trekker experiences this journey safely and comfortably, with expert guides who provide insights into the region’s history, flora, and fauna.
The best time to visit Langtang Valley is during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) seasons. During spring, the valley blooms with vibrant rhododendrons, and the weather is pleasant with clear skies, perfect for photography and enjoying the natural scenery. Temperatures are moderate, making trekking comfortable without the challenges of extreme cold. This season is ideal for observing the valley’s diverse flora and fauna, including flowering shrubs, alpine plants, and local wildlife. Spring also offers spectacular mountain views, as the skies are mostly clear, and the trails are lively with trekkers enjoying the awakening Himalayan landscapes.
Autumn, on the other hand, is the peak trekking season in Nepal and provides the clearest skies and crisp air, offering unobstructed views of the snow-capped Langtang peaks. After the monsoon, the forests are lush, rivers are full, and the trails are well-trodden but not overcrowded. The cool temperatures and stable weather make it a comfortable season for long treks, and trekkers can enjoy sunrise and sunset views over the mountains without the haze or rain of the monsoon. Both seasons are ideal for photography, cultural exploration, and wildlife spotting. Trekking during the winter or monsoon seasons is less recommended due to heavy snow, rainfall, or trail disruptions. Nepal Planet Treks & Expedition provides expert guidance to plan your trek according to seasonal conditions to ensure safety and an enjoyable experience.

Key Points:
Trekking in the Langtang Valley requires specific permits to ensure sustainable tourism and support local communities. The two main permits are the Langtang National Park Entry Permit and the Trekkers’ Information Management System (TIMS) card. The Langtang National Park Entry Permit is mandatory for all trekkers and helps preserve the region’s wildlife, forests, and cultural heritage. The Nepal Tourism Board issues the TIMS card and helps track trekkers for safety and rescue operations if necessary.
Obtaining permits is straightforward, and trekkers can acquire them in Kathmandu or at the park entrance in Syabrubesi. Fees vary depending on nationality, with separate rates for SAARC and non-SAARC citizens. Nepal Planet Treks & Expedition assists trekkers in securing these permits in advance, ensuring that paperwork is handled efficiently to avoid delays during the trek. Carrying valid identification, such as a passport, is essential when obtaining permits. We booked a trek to langtang and could organise most things from back home via e-mail and whatsapp. Sanjib is very quick and accurate to answer all type of questions. When we arrived in Kathmandu we went to the agency to pay and to discuss the last details. We had a great guide, shiva, who was fun, smart and a very nice company for us. We recommend to travel with this agency and we would ask for shiva again for a further treks.
The hike was really eventful and breathtaking. We had some of our best experiences on the trek. Our guide Sanjib had an amicable personality and very comfortable with us. I believe to make my next trip at Nepal keeping him in contact...
My husband and I had been to Langtang twice previously and wanted to revisit this beautiful area to support the community after the earthquake of 2015. As we were familiar with the region, we sought on the internet a company that would supply a porter and chose Nepal Planet Treks and Expedition P.Ltd. The prices were very reasonable and manager, Sanjib was prompt and flexible in accommodating our needs. Sanjib met us at our hotel with guide/porter, Kumar and surprised us by arranging permits, bus tickets, etc at cost price. Kumar was an excellent choice as our guide as well as porter. He was very experienced. He was easy to talk with and saw to our every need. We really enjoyed his company. Thanks Kumar.
I just finished trekking Langtang Valley with a Nepal Planet guide and couldn't have been happier! The request for a guide was also last minute and they did everything possible to accommodate my trek. Sanjib was very prompt with email responses and took care of everything from picking me up at the airport to getting my TIMS permit squared away. Raj was a great guide and very helpful with everything along the trek. Also for being early June the weather was phenomenal and very few others were on the trail. Their pricing is also very reasonable and well worth it for everything they provide. I'd highly recommend Nepal Planet to anyone planning a trekking adventure in Nepal!
Excellent trek and well experience guide, patient and focused well organised, knows the routs & the history of the places.

I did the 5/7 (2 days bus ride from/to Kathmandu) day trek up Langtang Valley and was in very good hands with my guide Niraj. The planning was smooth and I always felt safe plus I was not treated as a tourist, but got to know Niraj and other guides.
We had a great time trekking the Langtang Valley Trek with Ajaya. He was very helpful from the beginning to the end and always wanted our best. He was very flexible with changing plans and modifying the plan to our whishes. In the end it was our decision where we wanted to go. We felt he has a great talent in organisation, always asking other people or calling someone to find out what was needed, reserve a guest house or book a bus.
I wish we had more days to stay and have more time to digest all the fantastic things this valley can offer. Magnificent views, unbelievable greenery, blooming flowers, waterfalls all over the place, menacing heights!
