Overview

The Everest Three Passes Trekking is one of the most complete and adventurous trekking journeys in the Khumbu region of Nepal. Designed for trekkers who want more than the classic Everest Base Camp route, this trek combines extreme altitude passes, iconic Sherpa villages, sacred monasteries, glacial valleys, and breathtaking Himalayan panoramas. Operated with professionalism and safety by Nepal Planet Treks & Expedition, this trek delivers an immersive Himalayan experience that tests endurance while rewarding trekkers with unmatched mountain scenery.

The journey begins with a thrilling flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, the gateway to the Everest region. From here, the trail winds through traditional villages such as Phakding, Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, Dingboche, and Lobuche. The trek’s defining feature is the crossing of three high mountain passes: Kongma La (5,535m), Cho La (5,420m), and Renjo La (5,345m). Each pass offers dramatic views of Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, and Ama Dablam, making the effort worthwhile.

Beyond high passes, the trek includes visits to Everest Base Camp, Kala Patthar, and the stunning Gokyo Valley, famous for its emerald glacial lakes. The route is carefully planned with acclimatization days to minimize altitude risks. Nepal Planet Treks & Expedition ensures experienced guides, proper logistics, and personalized service, allowing trekkers to fully enjoy the adventure.

Best Season for Everest Three Passes Trekking

Choosing the right season is crucial for successfully completing the Everest Three Passes Trek. Due to the extreme altitude and technical nature of the passes, weather conditions play a significant role in safety and visibility. Nepal Planet Treks & Expedition recommends trekking during stable seasons when the skies are clear, temperatures are manageable, and trail conditions are safe.

The best seasons are spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). Spring offers warmer temperatures, blooming rhododendron forests, and longer daylight hours. This season is especially attractive for photographers due to clear mornings and vibrant landscapes. Snow may still be present on high passes, adding adventure without excessive risk.

Autumn is considered the prime trekking season. After the monsoon rains, the mountains appear exceptionally clean and sharp. Weather conditions are stable, with crisp air and excellent visibility. This is the most popular season for high-pass trekking, and Nepal Planet Treks & Expedition carefully manages logistics to avoid overcrowded trails while maintaining comfort and safety.

Winter treks are possible for highly experienced trekkers, while summer is generally avoided due to monsoon rains and flight disruptions.

Best Seasons at a Glance:

  • Spring (Mar–May): Mild temperatures, blooming landscapes
  • Autumn (Sep–Nov): Best visibility and stable weather
  • Winter: Very cold, for experts only
  • Monsoon: Not recommended

Everest Three Passes Trekking Difficulty and Transportation

The Everest Three Passes Trek is categorized as a challenging and strenuous trek, suitable for trekkers with prior high-altitude experience and strong physical fitness. The route involves long trekking days, steep ascents, rocky terrain, glacier crossings, and high passes exceeding 5,500 meters. Mental endurance is just as important as physical strength.

Altitude is the primary challenge. Despite well-planned acclimatization days at Namche Bazaar and Dingboche, trekkers must be prepared for thin air and rapid elevation changes. Nepal Planet Treks & Expedition prioritizes safety by maintaining slow ascent rates, providing altitude awareness briefings, and carrying first-aid and emergency protocols.

Transportation begins with a scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, one of the world’s most adventurous airstrips. During peak seasons, flights may operate from Ramechhap. All ground logistics, porter arrangements, and return flights are handled professionally by Nepal Planet Treks & Expedition to ensure smooth travel.

Difficulty & Transport Overview:

  • Strenuous trekking with high mountain passes
  • Requires good fitness and prior trekking experience
  • Lukla flights included and managed
  • Emergency evacuation support available
  • Experienced guides for safety and navigation

Food and Accommodation for Everest Three Passes Trekking

Throughout the Everest Three Passes Trek, trekkers stay in traditional tea houses and mountain lodges, offering basic yet comfortable accommodation. Rooms typically include twin beds, blankets, and shared bathrooms. At higher altitudes, facilities become simpler, but warmth, hospitality, and cleanliness remain a priority under the guidance of Nepal Planet Treks & Expedition.

Meals are freshly prepared and designed to provide high energy essential for high-altitude trekking. The menu includes Nepali, Tibetan, and international dishes such as dal bhat, noodles, soups, pasta, rice, eggs, and potatoes. Dal bhat is especially recommended as it is nutritious, filling, and refillable in most lodges.

As altitude increases, food variety decreases, and prices rise due to transportation challenges. Nepal Planet Treks & Expedition advises trekkers on proper food choices and hydration practices to maintain energy levels and prevent altitude sickness.

Food & Lodging Highlights:

  • Tea house accommodation throughout the trek
  • Nutritious, freshly cooked meals
  • Vegetarian options widely available
  • Hygienic dining recommendations
  • Warm communal dining areas

Everest Three Passes Trekking Permits

To trek legally in the Everest region, several permits are required. Nepal Planet Treks & Expedition manages all permit arrangements, allowing trekkers to focus entirely on their journey. These permits contribute to conservation, local development, and trail maintenance.

The primary permits include the Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permit, which allows access to the protected Everest region, and the Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality Permit, a local trekking permit replacing the TIMS card in this area.

All permits are checked at various checkpoints along the trail. Trekking without proper documentation is not allowed. With Nepal Planet Treks & Expedition, all paperwork is handled efficiently, ensuring compliance with Nepalese trekking regulations.

Required Permits:

  • Sagarmatha National Park Permit
  • Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Municipality Permit
  • Permit management included in package
  • Hassle-free and legally compliant

Trip Itinerary

Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, the vibrant capital of Nepal, a representative from Nepal Planet Treks & Expedition will warmly welcome you and transfer you to your hotel. After checking in and refreshing yourself, you may enjoy a relaxed walk around the lively tourist hub near your hotel, such as Thamel, where colorful shops, cafes, and traditional handicrafts introduce you to Nepalese culture. This light exploration helps you recover from your journey while gaining your first impressions of the country. In the evening, a welcome dinner will be arranged, during which your guide will briefly discuss the trekking program ahead. Overnight stay at a comfortable hotel in Kathmandu.

Early in the morning, we take a scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, one of the most thrilling mountain airstrips in the world. The approximately 40-minute flight offers spectacular views of rolling hills and Himalayan peaks. Upon arrival in Lukla, you will meet the trekking crew while the guide organizes luggage for porters. After a short break, we begin our first trek, descending gently through charming Sherpa villages and along the Dudh Koshi River. The walk is easy and relaxing, allowing your body to adjust to trekking conditions. We reach the peaceful village of Phakding by afternoon, where you can explore the surroundings and enjoy your first night in the Everest region.

After breakfast, we continue trekking along the banks of the Dudh Koshi River, crossing several suspension bridges adorned with prayer flags. The trail passes through pine forests and small settlements before reaching Monjo, the entrance to Sagarmatha National Park. Here, permits are checked before we descend to Jorsalle, the last village before Namche Bazaar. From this point, the trail climbs steadily, crossing the impressive Hillary Suspension Bridge and ascending through dense forest. If weather permits, you may catch your first glimpse of Mount Everest along the way. After a challenging but rewarding ascent, we arrive at Namche Bazaar, the vibrant commercial and cultural hub of the Khumbu region, where we stay overnight.

Today is dedicated to rest and acclimatization, essential for adjusting to the altitude. After breakfast, we take a short hike to nearby viewpoints, such as the Everest View Hotel, offering breathtaking panoramas of Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and Thamserku. Returning to Namche, you have time to explore the bustling market, bakeries, cafes, and gear shops. If your visit falls on a Saturday, you can witness the lively weekly market where locals trade goods from surrounding villages. You may also visit the Sherpa Museum to learn about Sherpa culture, traditions, and the history of Himalayan mountaineering. Overnight stay in Namche Bazaar.

After breakfast, the trail leads out of Namche along a scenic contour path with magnificent views of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, and other towering peaks. Walking through rhododendron and pine forests, we descend to Phunki Tenga before climbing steadily toward Tengboche. The ascent is rewarded with one of the most iconic sights in the Everest region—Tengboche Monastery, the largest and most important monastery in Khumbu. Set against the dramatic backdrop of Ama Dablam, the monastery creates a serene and spiritual atmosphere. You may observe evening prayers if timing allows. Overnight stay in Tengboche.

We begin the day by descending through lush forests of rhododendron, birch, and juniper to the village of Deboche. Continuing along the trail, we reach Pangboche, one of the oldest Sherpa settlements in the region, with outstanding views of Ama Dablam. From here, the landscape gradually changes as vegetation becomes sparse, indicating our entry into the alpine zone. The trail continues across open valleys and along the river toward Dingboche. Surrounded by stone-walled fields and towering peaks, Dingboche offers stunning mountain scenery. Due to strong afternoon winds, it is best to relax indoors after arrival. Overnight stay in Dingboche.

This day is set aside for acclimatization to help your body adapt to the high altitude. After breakfast, you may choose to relax in the village or join an optional hike to Nagarjun Hill or nearby viewpoints. The hike provides incredible panoramic views of Lhotse, Makalu, Ama Dablam, Island Peak, and surrounding glaciers. The gradual ascent and descent are excellent for acclimatization without overexertion. After returning to Dingboche, the afternoon is free to rest, enjoy warm meals, and interact with fellow trekkers. Proper acclimatization here is crucial for successfully crossing the high passes ahead. Overnight stay in Dingboche.

After breakfast, we trek toward Chhukung, a short but scenic journey through alpine terrain. The trail gently ascends across open valleys with dramatic views of Lhotse’s south face, Ama Dablam, and surrounding peaks. The walk is relatively easy and ideal for continued acclimatization. As we approach Chhukung, the landscape becomes more rugged and glacial, offering a true high-mountain atmosphere. Upon arrival, you will settle into a cozy teahouse and have time to explore the village or rest while enjoying the spectacular Himalayan surroundings. Overnight stay in Chhukung.

Today is one of the most challenging and rewarding days of the trek as we cross the first high pass, Kongma La. We start early, carrying packed lunch, snacks, and sufficient water, as there are no teahouses along the route. The climb to the pass takes several hours over rocky and glacial terrain. Upon reaching the prayer-flag-covered summit, we are rewarded with breathtaking views of icy lakes, surrounding peaks, and the vast Khumbu Glacier below. The descent is steep and demanding, requiring careful footing. Eventually, we join the trail near Lobuche, where we rest and recover after a long day. Overnight stay in Lobuche.

After breakfast, we follow the rocky trail alongside the Khumbu Glacier toward Gorakshep. Upon arrival, we check into the lodge and enjoy lunch before continuing toward Everest Base Camp. The trail winds through glacial moraines and rugged terrain, offering stunning views of Nuptse, Pumori, and surrounding peaks. Reaching Everest Base Camp is a memorable achievement, where climbers prepare for their summit attempts during expedition seasons. After spending time exploring and taking photos, we return to Gorakshep for the night, reflecting on this unforgettable experience. Overnight stay in Gorakshep.

Early in the morning, we hike up Kala Patthar, the best viewpoint for close-up views of Mount Everest. From the summit, you can witness a breathtaking panorama of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, and the Khumbu Glacier, especially beautiful during sunrise. After capturing photos and enjoying the moment, we descend to Gorakshep for breakfast and then continue trekking toward Dzongla. The trail offers quieter paths and impressive mountain scenery. Upon reaching Dzongla, you can relax and prepare for the next high pass crossing. Overnight stay in Dzongla.

Today is another long and adventurous day as we cross the Cho La Pass. The trail ascends steadily over rocky terrain and a glacier section, requiring caution and concentration. Reaching the pass is a major highlight, offering panoramic views of surrounding peaks and glacial landscapes. The descent toward Thangnak is steep and challenging but incredibly rewarding. After several hours of trekking, we arrive at Thangnak, a small settlement surrounded by dramatic mountain scenery. This demanding day is a true test of endurance and an unforgettable part of the Three Passes adventure. Overnight stay in Thangnak.

Leaving Thangnak behind, we continue toward the beautiful Gokyo Valley. The trail passes alongside the Ngozumpa Glacier, the longest glacier in Nepal, offering awe-inspiring views. As we approach Gokyo, turquoise glacial lakes begin to appear, creating a stunning contrast against the rugged Himalayan landscape. Gokyo Lake, one of the highest freshwater lake systems in the world, is a true highlight of the trek. After arriving in Gokyo Village, you can relax, explore the lakeside, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. Overnight stay in Gokyo.

Early in the morning, we hike up Gokyo Ri, a challenging but rewarding ascent. From the summit, you are treated to one of the finest panoramic views in the Everest region, including Cho Oyu, Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and many other peaks. After descending, the rest of the day is reserved for rest and exploration around the Gokyo Lakes. This lighter day allows your body to recover while enjoying the serene beauty of the valley. Overnight stay in Gokyo.

After an early breakfast, we begin our ascent toward Renjo La Pass, the final and one of the most scenic passes of the trek. The climb is steady, and upon reaching the top, we are rewarded with spectacular views of Everest, Lhotse, Cholatse, Taboche, and the Gokyo Lakes below. The descent toward Lungden is gradual and less technical, allowing you to enjoy the changing landscapes. Reaching Lungden marks the completion of all three high passes, a significant achievement. Overnight stay in Lungden.

Today’s trek is relatively easy and relaxing compared to previous days. The trail descends through quiet valleys, passing traditional Sherpa villages, mani walls, and prayer flags. As we approach Thame, you will notice its strong cultural heritage and peaceful environment. Thame is also known as the birthplace of several famous Sherpa climbers. After arriving, you have time to explore the village and visit the local monastery. Overnight stay in Thame.

After breakfast, we begin our trek back to Namche Bazaar along a pleasant trail. The route is mostly flat and downhill, passing through forests and small settlements. As we re-enter Namche, the familiar sights and comforts feel rewarding after weeks in the high mountains. The afternoon is free to enjoy hot showers, bakeries, cafes, and souvenir shopping. Overnight stay in Namche Bazaar.

Today marks our final trekking day in the Everest region. We descend along the Dudh Koshi River, crossing suspension bridges and passing through villages we encountered earlier in the journey. The walk is long but filled with reflection and satisfaction after completing the Three Passes Trek. Upon reaching Lukla, we celebrate the successful completion of the adventure with the trekking crew, sharing stories and memories. Overnight stay in Lukla.

Early in the morning, we take a flight back to Kathmandu. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is free to relax, enjoy last-minute shopping, or explore cultural sites in the city. In the evening, Nepal Planet Treks & Expedition will host a farewell celebration dinner to mark the successful completion of your journey. Overnight stay in Kathmandu.

After breakfast, our team will transfer you to Tribhuvan International Airport for your onward flight. As we bid you farewell, we thank you for choosing Nepal Planet Treks & Expedition for your Himalayan adventure. We hope the memories of the Everest Three Passes Trek will stay with you forever, and we look forward to welcoming you back to Nepal for future adventures. Safe travels and warm wishes!

The Trip of a Lifetime ( 3 passes Everest treks)

I can’t thank Sanjib and Raj enough for making our trip to EBC one of the most amazing and memorable experiences I’ve ever had. Sanjib and I had been communicated for nearly a year before our trip and was world-class in helping plan out every detail of our trip and was happy to accommodate all the changes along the way. Upon arrival in KTM, Sanjib and his brother waited for us at the airport while we dealt with the delays at customs and greeted us with open arms and transport to our hotel where we caught up, chatted and discussed our plan for our EBC trip with Sanjib and our guide, Raj. Sanjib took care of every detail from hotels, flights and transport and making us feel at home during our trip. Our 11 days to base camp were incredible and our guide was amazing teaching us about life in Nepal, the mountains and making sure we were well equipped to take on the challenge. We also enjoyed our time in KTM with Sanjib learning about Nepalese culture first hand from him and his family and he also helped arrange any of our requests within the city. Our trip also included a side trip to Chitwan NP and Nagarkot which Sanjib helped arrange and personally helped us travel between each place. I will 100% rely on him again for our next trip to the Himalayas and can’t wait to return! Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Three Pass Trek to EBC

Words cannot describe how incredible my experience was in Nepal. My first abroad trip, and I couldn't be happier with how it went, all thanks to Sanjib (host) and Om (trek guide) from Nepal Planet Treks and Expeditions. Sanjib was a wonderful host, welcoming us to Nepal as soon as we arrived at the airport as well as sending us off when the time came to head home. The professionalism displayed by the organization is an aspect I am so thankful to have had while in an unknown country. They handled everything wonderfully, from setting us up with nice dinners in the city to ensuring we had a bed reserved every night while trekking. Om knew all the locals, and consistently managed to get our food priority which was big after a long hike and a few dozen people are waiting in the dining room. One member of my team got sick, and our guide and porter (Kul) handled the situation extremely well, going above and beyond to accommodate our wants and needs. I can't wait to return to Nepal, and will surely use Nepal Planet Treks and Expeditions when I do!

Great guide and porter

I wanted to do the three passes trek solo and after contact with Sanjib I did the trek together with my great guide Niraj and awesome porter Panche. I can only say, that from the beginning until the end it was an absolute delight how all was arranged. At start I had some problems with my luggage at the airport, after which everyone showed flexibility and helped me so that I could still do the trek. During the trek, most importantly, I felt very safe even though the passes are challenging in combination with the unpredictable weather. This because of the great experience Niraj and Panche have on the passes and the mountains. Further, the fun I had with both Niraj and Panche made me very happy with choosing for Planet Treks. Based on my experience, i could only give a big big recommendation!

A memorable Three passes and EBC trek!

Sanjib's team at Nepal Planet Trek & Expeditions have been an indispensable companion throughout the EBC and three passes trek. Their unwavering dedication to ensuring my safety and enjoyment was evident from the outset. The team helped me plan for a suitable itinerary, route and accommodations along the route. I was also helped with travel logistics to Ramechhap, from KTM to Lukla and the team arranged for an awesome guide. The team is friendly, responsive and easy to communicate. Indra, my guide was very knowledgeable about the region, its history, and the intricacies of trekking at high altitudes. He provided invaluable insights that enriched the entire experience. Indra's focus my well-being, was remarkable; he consistently checked in on me and offered assistance whenever needed. His friendly and caring demeanor made the trek not just an adventure but a shared memorable journey among friends we made on the way. Awesome experience

Me and four friends booked the Everest Base Camp and Three Passes trek through Nepal Planet! Everything was very well organized and facilitated so that we could experience the majestic Nepalese valleys to its fullest. Our mountain guide, Mun, greatly helped us during our stay. He picked us up at KTM airport and dropped us off after our trek. Since part of our luggage was lost, we were forced to purchase a signifcant amount of our gear in Nepal. Thanks to its local connections, Mun managed to get good deals in Thamel and helped us to start the trek without any delay. During the trek, he made sure to check our oxygen saturation regularly and he ensured we were offered good rooms in the guest houses as well. We really enjoyed our trek and would definitely book again with Nepal Planet Treks. Can't wait for our next adventure with Nepal Planet Treks!

Trip of a lifetime!!!

Anil Rai was an excellent guide, my time in Nepal and my 3 pass trek would not have been half as good if it was not for Anil. Nothing was ever a problem for Anil, everything was done with a smile and his knowledge was invaluable. He took us on a lot of side trips that were less travelled and introduced us to a more local and authentic Nepal. I cannot recommend Anil more highly to anyone considering trekking in Nepal.

Three passes trek with Anil

We went on a three week trip on the Three passes Trek. We hired a guide (Anil) for the trek and had a blast! Anil arranged everything very well. He thought us a lot about hiking in the mountains, even though we we're quite experienced hikers already. We had many laughs together, and many running jokes throughout the trip. Can highly recommend.

Three Passes Trek, guided by Anil Rai

We completed the Three Passes Trek, including Gokyo Lakes and Everest Base Camp, and it was an unforgettable experience. Our guide, Anil Rai from Nepal Treks, quickly became a good friend, he was truly the perfect guide for the journey. As a local from the region, he was incredibly knowledgeable, well-connected in every village, and consistently ensured we had the best possible accommodation along the way. Anil was hospitable, professional, and made sure we acclimatized safely, offering great advice throughout the trek. We learned so much about the local culture, the languages like Nepali, sherpa and Rai, as well as about all the mountains, and even about ourselves. The entire trip was very well organized, easy to plan, and fairly priced. We 100% recommend this trekking company — and especially Anil Rai as a guide. :) Marc, NL

General Information

The Everest Three Passes Trek is one of the most challenging and rewarding trekking routes in Nepal, designed for adventurous trekkers seeking a complete exploration of the Everest region. This trek crosses three high mountain passes—Kongma La (5,535m), Cho La (5,420m), and Renjo La (5,345m)—while also visiting iconic destinations such as Everest Base Camp, Kala Patthar, Gokyo Valley, and Namche Bazaar. What makes this trek special is its combination of physical challenge, remote high-altitude landscapes, and cultural immersion in Sherpa villages. With Nepal Planet Treks & Expedition, trekkers experience a carefully planned itinerary that balances adventure, safety, and acclimatization for a truly unforgettable Himalayan journey.

The Everest Three Passes Trek is considered a strenuous trek and is best suited for experienced trekkers with good physical fitness. The route involves long trekking days, steep ascents and descents, glacier crossings, and high-altitude passes above 5,000 meters. While no technical climbing skills are required, prior trekking experience at altitude is highly recommended. Mental endurance is equally important due to unpredictable weather and rugged terrain. Nepal Planet Treks & Expedition recommends this trek for adventurous individuals who are comfortable with multi-day trekking and are prepared to train beforehand to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.

Proper acclimatization is a top priority for Nepal Planet Treks & Expedition. The itinerary includes scheduled rest days in key locations such as Namche Bazaar, Dingboche, and Gokyo to allow the body to adapt gradually to higher altitudes. Our experienced guides monitor trekkers daily for symptoms of altitude sickness and adjust the pace accordingly. We follow the principle of “climb high, sleep low” wherever possible. In case of severe symptoms, our guides are trained in first aid and emergency procedures, including arranging helicopter evacuation if necessary, ensuring the highest level of safety throughout the trek.

Preparation is key to successfully completing the Everest Three Passes Trek. Nepal Planet Treks & Expedition recommends engaging in regular cardiovascular training such as hiking, running, cycling, or stair climbing for several months before the trek. Strength training for legs and core muscles is also beneficial. Mental preparation is equally important, as the trek involves long days, high altitude, and changing weather conditions. Having a positive mindset, patience, and flexibility greatly enhances the experience. With proper preparation and our professional guidance, trekkers can confidently take on this extraordinary Himalayan adventure.

The best seasons for the Everest Three Passes Trek are spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). During these periods, the weather is generally stable, skies are clear, and mountain views are at their best. Spring offers blooming rhododendrons and active Everest expeditions, while autumn provides crisp air and excellent visibility after the monsoon. Winter trekking is possible but extremely cold, especially at high passes, while summer brings monsoon rains that can make trails slippery. Nepal Planet Treks & Expedition carefully plans departures during optimal seasons to ensure safety and the best trekking experience.

Accommodation and Food

Accommodation during the Everest Three Passes Trek mainly consists of teahouses or mountain lodges, which are simple but comfortable given the remote environment. Rooms are typically twin-sharing with basic bedding, and dining areas are heated with stoves in the evenings. As altitude increases, facilities become more basic, and hot showers or charging facilities may be limited or available at extra cost. Nepal Planet Treks & Expedition carefully selects clean and reliable lodges along the route to ensure comfort and hygiene, allowing trekkers to rest well after long trekking days in the Himalayas.

Meals during the trek are freshly prepared at teahouses and include a variety of local and international dishes. Common meals include dal bhat (rice, lentils, and vegetables), noodles, pasta, soups, potatoes, eggs, and pancakes. As altitude increases, food options may become simpler, but meals remain nutritious and filling. Nepal Planet Treks & Expedition encourages trekkers to eat well and stay hydrated to maintain energy levels and support acclimatization. Special dietary requirements such as vegetarian meals can usually be accommodated with advance notice, ensuring trekkers stay healthy throughout the journey.

Permits, Costs & Booking

To undertake the Everest Three Passes Trek, trekkers require a Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permit and a Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality Permit. These permits are mandatory and are checked at various points along the trail. Nepal Planet Treks & Expedition handles all necessary permit arrangements on behalf of our clients, saving time and avoiding hassle. Trekkers simply need to provide passport copies and photos in advance. This ensures a smooth trekking experience while complying with local regulations and supporting conservation efforts in the Everest region.

Guides, Support & Safety

Yes, comprehensive travel insurance is mandatory for the Everest Three Passes Trek due to its remote and high-altitude nature. The insurance must cover trekking activities up to at least 6,000 meters and include emergency helicopter evacuation and medical expenses. Nepal Planet Treks & Expedition requires proof of insurance before the trek begins to ensure client safety. In the event of altitude sickness, injury, or severe weather conditions, proper insurance ensures quick and effective emergency response without financial burden. Having suitable insurance provides peace of mind for both trekkers and the trekking team.

With Nepal Planet Treks & Expedition, the Everest Three Passes Trek is led by experienced, licensed, and English-speaking trekking guides who have extensive knowledge of the region. Our guides are trained in first aid, altitude awareness, and emergency response. Porters are provided to carry trekking gear, allowing trekkers to walk comfortably with a light daypack. We follow ethical trekking practices by ensuring fair wages, proper equipment, and insurance for all staff. This professional support system ensures safety, comfort, and a culturally enriching trekking experience.
