The Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) Trek is one of the most iconic trekking routes in Nepal, offering an unparalleled experience in the heart of the Himalayas. Starting from the vibrant city of Kathmandu, trekkers travel to Pokhara, a serene lakeside city, before beginning the journey through terraced fields, dense forests, and quaint villages. The trek covers a wide variety of landscapes, from subtropical valleys to alpine meadows, leading up to the dramatic Annapurna and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) Base Camps.
One of the highlights of the trek is Poon Hill, which provides a panoramic sunrise view over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. The trail is peppered with waterfalls, turquoise lakes, and hot springs, offering natural beauty at every step. Trekkers are treated to encounters with local Gurung and Magar communities, who have maintained their unique culture and traditions for centuries. Wildlife enthusiasts may spot over 100 species of mammals, including elusive snow leopards, Himalayan tahr, and blue sheep.
Nepal Planet Treks & Expedition ensures that this 14-day adventure is safe, comfortable, and unforgettable, giving trekkers the chance to immerse themselves fully in the majestic Annapurna region.
The Annapurna Base Camp trek can be undertaken almost year-round, but the best seasons are pre-monsoon (March–May) and post-monsoon (September–November). During these periods, the weather is generally clear, making it ideal for breathtaking views of the Himalayan peaks. Spring offers a spectacular display of rhododendron blooms in shades of red, pink, and white, while autumn presents crisp, clear skies with excellent visibility of Annapurna and surrounding peaks.
Winter (December–February) brings cold temperatures and occasional snow, particularly at higher altitudes. Though the trail is quieter, trekkers must be prepared for icy paths and sub-zero temperatures. Monsoon season (June–August) is not recommended due to heavy rainfall, landslides, and slippery trails, which make trekking more dangerous.
Seasonal Highlights:
Nepal Planet Treks & Expedition customizes itineraries based on your preferred season, ensuring the best combination of safety, scenery, and cultural experiences.
The ABC Trek is classified as moderate to strenuous, making it suitable for individuals with a reasonable fitness level. The trek involves daily walks of 4–7 hours, with altitude gain reaching 4,130m at Annapurna Base Camp. While the trail is well-marked and supported by teahouses, trekkers should be aware of altitude sickness and pace themselves accordingly.
Transportation is straightforward: travelers typically fly or drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara, which is the starting point of the trek. From Pokhara, a short drive takes you to Nayapul, the trekking gateway. The trail alternates between stone-paved paths, forested trails, and suspension bridges crossing rushing rivers. Nepal Planet Treks & Expedition provides experienced guides, porters, and logistics support to ensure smooth navigation and safety throughout the journey.
Difficulty & Transportation Highlights:
This trek requires endurance and preparation, but the combination of adventure, nature, and culture makes every step worthwhile.
Along the ABC trail, accommodation is primarily in tea houses and lodges, which provide basic but comfortable amenities. Rooms usually consist of twin or triple beds with blankets; private bathrooms may be limited at higher altitudes. Nepal Planet Treks & Expedition carefully selects lodges that maintain cleanliness and offer a cozy atmosphere, ensuring trekkers get rest after long hiking days.
Food along the trail includes traditional Nepali dishes such as dal bhat (rice and lentils), momo (dumplings), and vegetable curry. Western options like pasta, noodles, and sandwiches are also available in most tea houses. Hot drinks such as tea, coffee, and hot chocolate help keep trekkers warm, particularly at higher elevations. Hydration is important, and purified water is available, though it is advisable to carry water purification tablets as a precaution.
Food & Accommodation Highlights:
Nepal Planet Treks & Expedition ensures that trekkers enjoy nutritious meals and comfortable lodging to recharge for each trekking day, keeping energy levels high and spirits elevated.
To trek in the Annapurna region, travelers need to obtain specific permits. The Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP) and the Trekkers’ Information Management System (TIMS) card are mandatory. ACAP protects the natural and cultural heritage of the region, while TIMS ensures the safety of trekkers and allows tracking in case of emergencies.
Permit Details:
Having permits ensures a hassle-free trekking experience, and the responsible collection of fees supports conservation and local communities.
The Annapurna Base Camp Trek is a once-in-a-lifetime journey combining breathtaking landscapes, rich culture, and thrilling adventure. The trek offers some of the best Himalayan panoramas, from the iconic Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) to the towering Annapurna I and Dhaulagiri. Crossing the Hille Khola suspension bridge, we reach Tikhedhunga, a small Gurung settlement with traditional stone homes and charming local culture. The gentle climb and serene landscapes make this an enjoyable first day on the trail. Overnight at Tikhedhunga.
Today is a challenging but rewarding trek. We begin with an hour’s walk from Tikhedhunga, gradually ascending to the hilltop of Ulleri. From there, the trail continues through terraced fields and rhododendron forests, offering occasional glimpses of Annapurna South and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail). After several hours of uphill trekking, we arrive at Ghorepani, a picturesque village perched on a ridge. Early morning, we hike for 40–50 minutes to Poon Hill (3,210m) to witness one of the most breathtaking sunrises in the Himalayas. From this vantage point, panoramic views of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Dhaulagiri, and other snow-capped peaks are simply unforgettable. After descending, we return to Ghorepani for breakfast and then continue our trek to Tadapani. The trail passes through rhododendron forests, small streams, and traditional villages, making it one of the longest yet most rewarding days of the trek. Overnight in Tadapani.
After breakfast, we descend into a dense rhododendron forest toward Kimrong Khola. Along the way, we are treated to stunning views of Annapurna South, Annapurna IV, and Machhapuchhre. The trail gradually ascends to Chhomrong, a traditional Gurung village renowned for its culture and hospitality. Chhomrong serves as a gateway to the higher Himalayas, providing an authentic experience of rural Nepalese life. Overnight in Chhomrong Village.
Leaving Chhomrong, we cross the suspension bridge over the Modi Khola River and ascend to Sinuwa Danda. The path continues smoothly through thick rhododendron and bamboo forests until we reach Khuldighar. From here, the trail descends steep stone steps into a verdant valley, leading us to Dovan. Surrounded by mountains and dense forests, Dovan is a peaceful place to rest after a moderately challenging day of trekking. Overnight in Dovan Village.
Today’s trek requires careful attention as we navigate landslide-prone sections along the trail. After leaving Deurali, we walk along the riverbed surrounded by towering snow-capped peaks. The trail gradually ascends to Machhapuchhre Base Camp, where the dramatic landscape of Mt. Hiunchuli, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Machhapuchhre, and Gangapurna unfolds. The base camp offers stunning views and a sense of isolation amidst the Himalayas, giving trekkers an incredible sense of achievement. Overnight at Machhapuchhre Base Camp.
After breakfast, we continue trekking from Machhapuchhre Base Camp to Annapurna Base Camp, approximately three hours. Along the way, we pass thawing snowfields forming tiny streams, adding to the trail’s beauty. Arriving at ABC, we are greeted with a 360-degree panorama of the Annapurna massif, including Annapurna I, Machhapuchhre, Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and other surrounding peaks. The camp is a surreal place, surrounded by high glaciers and dramatic rock faces. Overnight at Annapurna Base Camp, where the Himalayan scenery is at its most awe-inspiring.
Before breakfast, we enjoy the magical sunrise over the Annapurna range, casting golden light across snow-covered peaks and glaciers. After breakfast, we begin our descent toward Bamboo, passing Deurali and Dovan along the way. The trail gradually descends through forests and river valleys, offering a relaxed pace after the high-altitude trekking. Bamboo is a quiet, verdant village, perfect for resting and reflecting on the trek’s highlights. Overnight at Bamboo Village.
From Bamboo, we ascend to Kuldi Ghar and continue along stone steps to Lower Chhomrong, then descend to Upper Chhomrong. The trail continues downhill through terraced fields and villages, finally reaching Jhinu Danda. This village is famous for its natural hot springs, where trekkers can relax and soothe their muscles after the long trek. Spending time in the hot springs is a rejuvenating experience, making this day memorable. Overnight in Jhinu Danda.
Today we trek through New Bridge, Kyumi village, and Syauli Bazaar before reaching Birethanti. From there, we walk approximately one hour to Naya Pul, concluding the trekking portion of our journey. A vehicle then transfers us back to Pokhara for a well-deserved rest. The evening in Pokhara can be spent shopping for souvenirs, strolling by the lake, or relaxing at your hotel. Overnight in Pokhara.

I was recommended the company by a friend who used to do the trek in Nepal few years ago and my experience with the company specifically with the guide was pretty good. We did ABC trek for 8 days and the guide was totally helpful and he also has certain knowledge about treks and mountains. Trekking in mountain is not a game. It is fun but also has a lot of danger so it is important to find a company to guide you to see the best of the country also keep you safe. Jiban – my guide for the trek is amazing. He showed his passion for trekking and he has knowledge about the country and mountain. It was really enjoyable to have him as a company during the trek.
CuriousWanderlust00 Bangkok, Thailand 11 Reviewed April 18, 2018 Highly Flexible and Organized! I did the 13 Days ABC Trekking + Poon Hill with Nepal Planet Treks on 5-17 Apr 2018. Sanjib has been super fast in replying my emails from the very beginning . I had quite a last minute arrangement – less than a month but everything made possible by Sanjib and his team. I had a little brother during the trip – Jiban 🙂 who was my Guide and Porter and what a super hero he was !! He managed my heavy backpack, my moods, slow walking , frequent rest stops and of course my highly inquisitive mind – like a pro – despite his young age. Bravo Jiban ! You will go far in life if you keep up the positive attitude! Despite the last minute arrangement during this period which turned out to be a peak season as most guesthouses were booked up by big groups, Jiban managed to ‘sweet talk’ his way and get our accommodation sorted out in the end. Otherwise I would have never made it to ABC! And Sanjib has been giving me a first class personalized treatment when we met in Kathmandu. Even though I traveled solo, having Sanjib and Jiban around – you will never be alone. Thank you so very much for arranging one of the best trip Ive had so far! Definitely will travel with you again when Im back in Nepal hopefully soon
We have been 13 days with Sarjan Adhikari doing the trekking to Base Camp, it has been fantastic, he has been a perfect guide for us. We are a family of five and he has been one more of us. Very pleasant, all the things very organized, all the places we have been has been very good selected,
Namaste!
Nepal Planet Treks came well recommended to me and I was not disappointed . From start to finish everything was professional and friendly. Excellent Guide and Porter, and the knowledge that if anything was to go wrong I had capable and competent backup. Would highly recommend Sanjib and Nepal Planet Treks .
I have written to Nepal Planet Treks requesting a customized tour of Annapurna for 2 people. NJ, not only replies within the same day, he gives options, advice and always adds that little extra that makes you feel assured. We ended up organizing a lot more via NJ who came with some really nice hotel options, travel ideas, etc. and we were always pleasantly surprised. Highly recommend their friendly and professional services
I booked the trekking tour to EBC at the beginning, but the flight to Lukla had been cancelled due to bad weather and I changed my plan immediately to ABC after 2 days waiting. Sanjib answered all my questions before and during my trip, and my guide Jiban did his best to accommodate my needs in short notice. Oct is a very peak season for ABC trek and it’s difficult to get a decent room if you did not plan/ book ahead. I wasn’t totally satisfied with the room arrangement but I could tell they tried their best all the way to secure a bed for me. After I finished my trekking and spent some time in Nepal on my own, Sanjib was still in contact with me and offered help even I didn’t ask. I’m very happy with their service and would recommend them to anyone.
I booked ABC trek with Sanjib, the one that my friend recommended a year ago. He is very nice and give us best price for this trip. He also wait us 3hrs at the airport to pick us up. And then about the trip, we travel with a tourguide - Jiban and a porter. They was very nice and helpful. I got so much tired to get to the highest place of our trip, but worth it. The view is stunning, very very beautiful. We don't want to come back home, just want to stay there. I would definitely recommend Nepal Planet Trek and their Service and will come back to Nepal soonest.
This company had exceeded all of our expectations! They are the most caring, knowledgable, and accommodating hosts... The lodging, all the transfers they provided for me and my two teenagers were superb! Guide Raj and the porter Ganish were very helpful, friendly, and made our trekking to Annapurna Base Camp the most memorable and enjoyable experience... What a find! We highly recommend them for hiring for all your NEPAL adventures!

This is my third time to go trekking in Nepal. I am so lucky to have an experienced and responsible guide, NJ. NJ was introduced by my friend for my first trekking in 2009 and NJ, his family and I have become friends since then. NJ would take care of everything during the trekking journey, including recommending a suitable routing, arranging nicer accommodations, food as well as pairing a good porter for the trip. I am more than happy to go trekking with my friend and my guide, NJ again in the near future. I have no hesitation to recommend NJ to my friends as he is a reliable and professional guide.
it was awesome to make your dream coming true, with a handful team ! it was spent very well, 8 days poon hill and abc 😎👌
I took my family for a long trek to Ghorepani Poon Hill and subsequently to Annapurna base camp. However, after 1st day trekking, my wife chose to do the city tour packages and I continue to ABC with my son. Sanjib and the gang have been very accommodative to our requirement and we had an awesome experience with the guides. Kudos to Laxman and Roshan! you're the best! It was not an easy trekking during monsoon period but the warmth and laughter shared together left us with good memories forever
C'était super. trek en 14 jours. le sherpa et le guide étaient très bien. les chambres et la nourriture aussi.

I just did ABC trek with NPT last Feb 2019. It was hard but NPT team was so helpful and professional. It was awesome trip even we didnt make it to the base camp. I would highly recommend NPT if you wish to arrange any trip to Nepal as they are so reliable, professional and also friendly. To NJ, big thank u and see you again ! Warm regards Masayu
Fantastic!!!! Thank you for such a wonderful, professional and safe trek to Annapurna Base Camp, it was magical. My husband and son used Nepal Planet Trekking in 2015 to go to Everest base camp trek and found the company and guide Sanjib to be an excellent choice. My husband convinced me to attemp the Annapurna Base Camp trek in April this year and I’m so glad I did. From the minute we touched down in Kathmandu our guide Sanjib was absolutely brilliant. He arranged everything for us including shopping for some trekking essentials at discount prices, to lovely accommodation and transfers to all destinations. Throughout the trek itself Sanjib was invaluable, he constantly reassured me and was very kind. He physically helped me get through some of the challenging areas of the trek. The company’s porter was also lovely, he carried our pack with a smile on his face and it was ready to use in our rooms at each tea house when we arrived. All I can say is give these guys the chance to arrange your trekking trip. They Offer a very personalised business and strive to give you the trip of a lifetime and they certainly succeeded for us. They are flexible to your needs and requirements and they delivered 100%. Thankyou!!!
This is our first time trekking in Nepal. We had a great time with NJ’s professional team: Raj and Kumar. They took care of us a lot during the trek and we had a very good time with them. We enjoyed the trekking very much. And Special thanks to NJ! He helped us a lot. Our baggage was left in hometown and arrived in Kathmandu late. Thanks NJ for helping us pick up the bags and send to Pokhara promptly. =) We are looking forward to our next trekking with NJ’s team very soon!
The experience was full of emotions. Hike to the breathtaking Himalayas with people that you can trust.
Been to Nepal twice now and both times used Nepal Planet Treks, had a great time,Sanjib our guide managed to get us the best rooms in the teahouses , meals were served first, even when they were busy ,This guy has been a guide for over 20 years Personalised professional service , we were introduced to Sanjibs beautiful family and went sightseeing with them in Pokhara and Kathmandu ,amazing experience . Highly recommend this company! Thank you Nepal Planet Treks and thank you Sanjib
At first i would like to give my sincere thanks to our guide Sanjib Adhikari brother. He took very good care of us till our entire trek. At times there was difficulties but we could go through easily with our guide. Our fooding , lodging as well as our health was taken a good care by our guide. Walking through hills, mountains, snows was a thrilling experience of my life. I recommend everyone to experience this adventure atleast once in your life. Lastly thank you Sanjib bro for your kindness and for being so brotherly to us. Looking forward to our trek with you brother , very soon.
Met up with Sanjay my guide by contacting Sanjib through email and then Whatsapp. They emailed me a rough plan and from there I customised some parts to fit my Itinerary and goals. Transferred the initial deposit and paid the rest in cash when we met up on the first day. Not done any serious multi day hike so this was a first. Definitely need a certain level of fitness to climb up and down the mountains but more importantly mental strength and perseverance to get through the hundreds and thousands of steps. Nevertheless anyone with a strong determination should go for this as it is a lifetime experience. With the guidance and help of Sanjay, I’ve never felt safer or in any situation lost confidence that we won’t make it. He is literally always right behind me when we are climbing up and occasionally supported me when we had to go down the rocky mountains. He even dragged me up Poonhill at 5am when I was exhausted so that we can catch the Sunrise and panorama view of Annapurna. As a female traveler I felt totally safe following Sanjay. He is very polite and friendly to everyone around him and do make an effort to hold conversations since I’m not much of a talker. He is really experienced, knows every footpath and will tell you exactly how far more we have to go pretty accurately. Sanjay is super passionate and dedicated in making sure I get to witness the best views. Many mornings he will rush to wake me up when there’s a clear view of the mountains. Do not expect much from the teahouses. They are mostly basic, with shared bathrooms and two beds per room. But most had sitted toilets and even bidet and even hot gas showers. Not the cleanest, many bugs but they had the best view and food from the teahouse cook were yummy. Definitely an adventure and experience. Advice to fly in and out of pokhara instead of the bus to safe time. They booked Buddha Air for me. Day usually starts at 7am for breakfast, we leave the guesthouse by 8-8.15 latest. We hike for 2 hours before tea break, another 2-3 hours before lunch and continue another 2 hours to reach our final teahouse by 3-4pm everyday. Managed to cutshort the trip by 2 days as we walked faster as planned and stayed in pokhara to rest and cafehop. Many cute and friendly dogs, cowpoo to avoid, cute chickens, tons of insects, waterbufffolos if ure into animals. Would definitely find Sanjay again if I’m going back to Nepal :):):)
Sanjib was our contact for this trip and he was very helpful and accommodating. He arranged everything from when we arrived in Nepal till the day we left. Raj and Ramesh and Niki were our guides and we're quite fun to be with. There was never a dull moment with them thus making our trek more enjoyable. This is definitely one for the books. I highly recommend them for any trips you plan for Nepal.
We did the trip in early Dec 2022 with Sanjib’s team (Jiban was the mountain guide). Overall experience was SUPERB! Jiban was very patient to explain all the trekking routes, details, viewpoints and anything we needed to know about the hike. He was energetic throughout the trek and our trip was filled with joy. So grateful to have them to arrange our ABC Trek. Definitely will recommend everyone to do Nepal hiking trip with them.
We had this amazing trip in March 2023 with our porter-guide Mr. Ramkumar. He took care of us from when we got on the bus in Kathmandu till the end of the trip. Mr. Ram was funny and energetic, which made our trip so much more enjoyable. We highly recommend them to be your guide for trekking in Nepal.
Sanjip is one of the best guides i had in my trips. He is the main reason why i enjoyed Anna Purna so much as he didnt pressure us, he let us take our time enjoying the view and taking many many beautifoul pictures together! The company was very organised they arrange very good accomodation for us and very good tours in Kathmandu. Thank you for making our trip so memorable. Cant wait to do Everest Base Camp!
Embarking on the Annapurna trekking was adventure fulfilling experience. And I cannot express enough gratitude to the guides, Jiban and Ramesh, who played an integral role in making this journey extraordinary. They expertly tailored the trekking itinerary to suit my preferences and physical abilities, accommodating my pace and ensuring I never felt overwhelmed. They have a great knowledge of the region, sharing captivating stories and providing insights into the local culture, history, and natural wonders. I had everything necessary for a comfortable stay in teahouses along the way. Thank you, Jiban and Ramesh, for making my Annapurna trekking adventure an unforgettable one!
The trip was great!! Our guide, Lesham and porter, Rajandra were very good and so much helpful. They are very kind and take good care of us. Thank you so much.
A good experience to go to the thorang la. the guide and the porter were always friendly and approachable at any time. Unforgettable are the pomegranate seeds and apple pieces that Hary prepared every evening. Nir explained everything special about the trek and special requests were also fulfilled. Thank you also for the hot spice, which was served separately at every meal and was not part of the usual service. Anytime again and thank you very much.
I’ve just finished my trekking to Annapurna Base Camp, NJ arranged all things very well, including my plan to scroll around Kathmandu City. Jeevan (Guide) and Onil (Porter) made this trekking became a memorable journey. Both of them took care of me during the trekking perfectly, and so when I got Altitude sickness as well.
It was my first time in Nepal. In 12 days I completed the ABC trek. My guide Adhikari turned out to be a thoughtful, nice and kind person and made this experience unforgettable! Adhikari thank you very much!

We did the 9 day ABC trek starting from Pokhara. We were accompanied by two young and experienced guides (Ajaya and Sandesh) who were helpful and accommodating. The trek in their company was a real journey into Nepalese culture.
Had the best services at the most reasonable price for Annapurna trek. Everything was taken care of from airport to airport. Nothing had to be asked twice everything was done without any hustle. Great service
We had been to Annapurna base camp trek with Nepal Planet treks and expeditions and had a wonderful experience. The host NJ took care of us very well and our guide was very supportive throughout the trek. It was beautifully organised, no flaws. Highly recommend them.
They are amazing organiser’s.Will customise your trip according to number days and budget. Nj the coordinator helped us with our trek to abc.
My friend and I had an amazing Annapurna Base Camp trek in October 2024. I had found Sanjib online earlier via Internet and asked him to organize it. He did a great job! First of all, we have a great guide - Ram. He picked us up from the airport and joined us throughout the trek. He was not only a great guide, taking care of our pace, health, accomodation and meals but also gave us a lot of information about the region, culture and people. We formed a strong team. All this would not have been possible for us, also without our porter - Shayam. Thanks to him, we could enjoy the trek with only small backpacks. I am very grateful for this trek! The views were amazing. I am sure that I will come back for another trek someday. Then I will ask Sanjib and Ram to organize it. On my list is a trek to Langtang Valley or Mustang region. Sanjib, Ram, Shayam, Thank You!
I went to Nepal with my friend in mid-October 2024. We found Sanjib's Agency by internet, after reading a lot of positive opinions about his agency. From the very beginning, the contact with Sanjib was very good. He answered our e-mail’s immediately. Ram, our guide, picked us up from Kathmandu airport. We met Sanjib personally at the hotel. He gave us all informations about the trek. During the entire trek, Ram took care of accommodation, food, and our well-being. At the same time, he talked a lot about the region, people and culture of the country. Ram really thought of everything. He was always available and paid attention to detail, thanks to which we felt his support all the time. During the trek, we were also supported by a wonderful, smiling porter - Shayam. He did a great job. Porters deserve respect and appreciation for their hard work. The trek was beautiful. Views, weather and company were wonderful. I am already thinking about the next trips. Sanjib, Ram and Shayam, thank you very much!!! Thanks to you, I will remember this trip forever.
NJ and Sanjib were the best 💕 The communication through NJ was easy and he always responded in no time to all the questions we had before hand. Even though we had a bit of time difference. We highly recommend this tour to anyone! From the beginning to the end, we have been taken care of on an exceptional level.👌 We travelled in a group of 7. Our friends a family of 5 and us 2. 🙏We had different flights to and from Kathmandu, different times we spend at the end in Pokhara and Kathmandu. 🌻 NJ catered for all of us, organised all the different transport times it was truly amazing. We did the Annapurna Circuit and parts of the Annapurna Basecamp. The hike itself of course was challenging at times, but the breathtaking scenery over the Christmas period was very special. Blue skys, crystal clear air made for perfect pictures. 💕A truly memorable experience. Sanjib our guide was looking after us, on a level we would have never expected. He not only took care of us during the hike, but also in the tea houses, he took our orders, cleaned our tables, took drink orders and served us. He was very knowledgeable and we felt extremely safe having him as our guide. We even picked up some new dance moves 😉 We felt that we definitely picked the right tour. My partner and I will be back to do the Manaslu Circuit 😊 and we look forward to book with NJ and Sanjib again🥰
I did a solo ABC trek with Nepal Planet Trek team and had a wonderful experience overall. Mr Sanjib was very accommodating and informative about the entire trip details. My guide, Rojan, was a really cool guy who always laid out the day plans and was quick on his feet when he had to make any changes. It couldn’t have been any smoother and my overall trek experience has been made memorable by him.
We had an incredible experience on our Annapurna Base Camp trek, thanks to our amazing guide Mun and porter Raju. From the start, they showed professionalism, deep knowledge of the route, and a genuine commitment to making our trek smooth and enjoyable. Mun was exceptionally attentive to our needs, adapting to my mum's slower pace while ensuring I could complete the full base camp trek. Their flexibility in splitting our routes allowed both of us to have a fulfilling and safe journey. Mun also navigated the challenges of peak season, managing shifting bookings and securing accommodations to keep our trek on track. Raju, our porter, was equally fantastic—always helpful, kind, and ensuring our bags were well-handled throughout. Their teamwork, patience, and dedication made all the difference. If you're looking for a knowledgeable, professional, and caring team for your trek, anyone from Nepal Planet Treks is great but Mun and Raju are absolutely the ones to go with. Highly recommended!
From the get go, Niranjan, Mun, Raju, Ravin and Ravin gave us the best possible service and care a company could give. It was also beautiful experience getting to know each one of them. It was a beautiful experience all in all. Thank you for making sure we all got to ABC safe and sound. Would strongly recommend these guys to anyone and definitely plan on contacting them for our next trek.
The company was very accommodating and we were treated very well. Our guide was very patient with us even though we had slower hikers. The team made sure we got to where we needed to be. Anje was very welcoming and our guide Raj was very helpful when he was asked questions about the trek.
We recently completed the ABC trek in April 2025, organized by Niranjan, and it truly became one of the most beautiful experiences of our lives. From the very beginning, the care and attention we received were incredible. Niranjan, who organized everything for us, was extremely thoughtful and made sure every detail was perfectly planned. He patiently answered all our questions, reassured us when we had doubts, and made sure we were ready for the trek. We were lucky to have Mun as our guide. From the very first day, Mun wasn’t just a guide he was like a big brother to us. This was our first big trek, and we were a little nervous, but Mun took care of us so well. He made sure we were safe, happy, and strong every day. He cheered us up when the trek was hard, and he made the journey fun with his stories and jokes. Thanks to him, we finished the trek with so many happy memories. — he truly holds a special place in our heart. We also had two amazing porters, Raju and Ravin. They were more than just porters they were always there to help us, support us, and make sure we were doing okay. They were strong, kind, and always smiling. Their strength inspired us every single day. They weren’t just carrying our bags — they were carrying our journey forward with their smiles, their support, and their care. And the relationship we built with Niranjan, Mun, Raju, and Ravin didn’t end with the trek. After returning to Kathmandu, where we stayed for six more days, Niranjan continued to visit us frequently just to check on us, making sure we were doing well and even taking us out for dinner. Their kindness made us feel like family, not just travelers passing through. Even now, back home, we find ourselves missing them. They made the mountains feel like home, and their companionship turned a beautiful trek into something even more meaningful. It wasn’t just about reaching Annapurna Base Camp; it was about the incredible friendships we made along the way. Another thing we must say..they charged almost half the price compared to other companies and freelance guides we spoke to. Even though the price was low, the care and service they gave us were more than 5-star! They really work with their hearts, not just for business. We highly recommend Nepal Planet Treks and Expeditions to anyone planning a trek in Nepal. If you want a team who will take care of you like family, this is the best choice. Thank you so much, Niranjan, Mun, Raju, and Ravin. We will never forget you. We hope to come back soon! Love from Pramodya, Pathum, Nisal, Nagusan, and Vignesh 🇱🇰
We were a group of 6 people and we had the best experience with this team doing the Annapurna Base Camp Trek. The trek was very well organised, the people are so welcoming and kind. The team felt like a part of the group, very friendly, they helped & supported us all in possible ways not being restricted by their role & responsibility. The Guide Jiban brought so much liveliness, happiness & joy with his ways of talking. It was really great to see the maturity in him in terms of how to handle each one as we were a group varying in ages from 17 to 45. At one point on day 3 it was getting difficult for me and he said such wise words to inspire me that i picked up speed and it helped us all reach on time. I had my moments of emotions, crying & shouting- but he remained calm and handled so gracefully allowing me to be myself and silently, gracefully supporting me. He helped us create so many videos, pics & experiences even though it was not his job. The places he took us for lunch and dinners were great and they also helped us after the trek in so many ways. They go beyond just what they sign up for. Definitely recomened them. Thank you so much for a lifetime memorable experience.
I recently completed the Annapurna Base Camp trek with Rojan as my guide, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. From the very first day, he made me feel comfortable and supported. He knows the route inside out, not just the trails but also the teahouses, the best spots for rest, and little details that made each day smoother. What stood out most about Rojan was his patience and encouragement. He always matched my pace, never rushed me, and motivated me when the trek got tough. His English is excellent, his sense of humour made the journey lighter, and his professionalism gave me complete peace of mind. Beyond just guiding, he genuinely cared about my wellbeing and made sure I enjoyed the trek to the fullest. By the end, it felt less like I had hired a guide and more like I had gained a friend. If you’re planning to trek in Nepal, I can’t recommend Rojan at Nepal Planet treks enough. He is experienced, trustworthy, and brings the right mix of professionalism and warmth to the adventure. Thanks to him, my ABC trek was unforgettable.
Mr. Sanjib is a professional guide who has a lot of experience, knowledge which helps him to keep everything simple and best.
Excellent organisation! This was first time in Nepal for trekking and Sanjib sir took very good care of our group. He’s a very professional guide. All the support staff was very friendly and helpful. All the stays, food exceeded expectations! Thank you for the wonderful experience!
This is the first time I came to nepal for treking with nepal planet treks. Kudos to Mr. Sanjib And Niranjan Adhikari very well organised. Also all our team houses locations are excellent.
Many thanks to Sanjib Sir for giving a lifetime experience, I had done some treks in India but doing ABC Base Camp with Nepal Planet Treks and Expedition and having a professional person like Sanjib was great. For doing future treks I will be definitely going with Nepal Treks and would highly recommend doing treks in Nepal through Nepal Planet Treks and Expedition.
Had an amazing experience with Sanjeeb during ABC trek. Right from the beginning he managed all our logistics very well. Food & accommodation was top quality. Sanjeeb is true professional and had yeas of experience in organising treks. He managed our group really well and made our first experience in Nepal memorable. We had many calls with Niranjan Adhikari and he answered all our questions well on time. Both Niranjan and Sanjeeb were really polite and patient with us and made sure that we didn’t face any issues during our trek. Overall an excellent experience. If you are searching for a reliable and professional team to manage your trek in Nepal, I will highly recommend them. Go for it and you won’t be disappointed.
It was my 1st long duration trek. Initially I was hesitant but later when I met Sanjib, he is the most polite and helpful person i have ever met, he understands without being told , what's needed. He understands the person's strengths and weakness in 1 hour and helps to quickly gap up the same. He is very cooperative to help the slow ones in the group to cope up with the group. 😊😊. Most important thing for that there was no need ever to ask about breakfast lunch for dinner or even the stay everything was perfectly organised before we reach there. Sanjib is extremely humble guy. If I ever plan to visit Everest base camp or any other best camp in Nepal it would be definitely with Sanjib I will not go with any other guide that for sure. He makes it sure to go extra mile to make the group comfortable.
We had a wonderful trip with Mun, a very experienced and friendly guide. Thank you for your hospitality and excellent services!
The Annapurna Base Camp trek is considered moderate to challenging. It involves daily trekking of 4–7 hours with uphill and downhill sections, some steep stone steps, and uneven trails. While no technical climbing skills are required, trekkers should have a reasonable level of fitness and stamina. High-altitude trekking can cause mild altitude sickness, but our guides from Nepal Planet Treks & Expedition monitor everyone carefully and provide guidance to ascend safely and enjoy the trek at a comfortable pace.
Altitude sickness can occur above 2,500 meters due to lower oxygen levels. The Annapurna Base Camp trek reaches 4,130 meters, so mild symptoms such as headache, nausea, and fatigue are possible. Nepal Planet Treks & Expedition emphasizes gradual acclimatization, proper hydration, and rest days to reduce risk. Our guides are trained to recognize severe symptoms and can adjust the itinerary or arrange evacuation if necessary. Most trekkers experience minor issues, but careful preparation ensures a safe and enjoyable trek.
Yes, Annapurna Base Camp trek can be completed by fit children and elderly trekkers, but pace adjustments are necessary. Daily trekking hours and steep sections can be challenging for younger children or older adults. Nepal Planet Treks & Expedition customizes itineraries based on age, fitness level, and individual needs to ensure safety and comfort. Adequate rest breaks, nutritious meals, and gradual acclimatization are emphasized to make the journey accessible to a wide range of travelers who are physically prepared for moderate trekking.
The ABC trek offers breathtaking Himalayan scenery, lush forests, terraced farmlands, glacial rivers, and vibrant local culture. Highlights include sunrise at Poon Hill, panoramic views of Annapurna South, Machhapuchhre, Dhaulagiri, Hiunchuli, and a 360-degree vista from Annapurna Base Camp. Along the trail, trekkers experience the hospitality of Gurung and Magar villages, rhododendron forests, and high-altitude landscapes. Nepal Planet Treks & Expedition ensures an immersive journey, balancing adventure, natural beauty, and cultural experiences for a truly unforgettable Himalayan trek.
The best seasons to trek to ABC are during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). In spring, the rhododendron forests are in full bloom, and the weather is generally clear with mild temperatures. Autumn offers stable weather and the clearest mountain views after the monsoon season. Winter treks are possible but cold, while summer treks coincide with the monsoon and heavy rainfall, which may make trails slippery and increase the risk of landslides.
Yes, trekkers must obtain an Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP) and a Trekkers’ Information Management System (TIMS) card. These permits ensure the conservation of the Annapurna region and safety of trekkers. Nepal Planet Treks & Expedition handles the necessary paperwork and guides you through the process. Permits are checked at various checkpoints along the trail, and it is mandatory to carry them throughout the trek to avoid fines or travel restrictions.
Accommodation along the Annapurna Base Camp trek is primarily in tea houses or lodges, offering simple rooms with beds and shared or private bathrooms. Facilities are basic, especially at higher altitudes like Machhapuchhre Base Camp and ABC, with limited electricity and hot water. Meals are typically included in tea houses, with Nepali and international cuisine available. Nepal Planet Treks & Expedition ensures that all lodges we select are clean, safe, and provide comfortable rest after long trekking days.
Tea houses along the trail serve a variety of meals, including Nepali dishes like dal bhat (lentil rice), noodles, momo (dumplings), and soups. Western meals such as pasta, pizza, and omelets are also commonly available. Vegetables, fruits, and snacks are fresh in most villages. Nepal Planet Treks & Expedition ensures trekkers have access to hygienic and nutritious meals, catering to dietary preferences such as vegetarian or vegan options. Hot drinks like tea, coffee, and chocolate are ideal for warming up after long trekking days.
Essential packing items include layered clothing for changing temperatures, trekking boots, a warm jacket, a sleeping bag, a raincoat, trekking poles, a hat, gloves, and a backpack. Personal hygiene items, sunscreen, sunglasses, and a water bottle with purification tablets are recommended. While tea houses provide meals, carrying high-energy snacks is advisable. Nepal Planet Treks & Expedition provides a detailed packing list tailored for the trek, ensuring trekkers are fully prepared for both cold nights and sunny mountain days.
Hiring a guide or porter is highly recommended for safety, navigation, and convenience. Our experienced guides from Nepal Planet Treks & Expedition help with route guidance, acclimatization advice, cultural insights, and emergency situations. Porters can carry heavy backpacks, allowing you to trek more comfortably and enjoy the scenery. While independent trekking is possible for experienced trekkers, having professional support enhances safety, reduces physical strain, and makes the journey more enjoyable, especially for first-time visitors to Nepal.
