Ghorepani Poon Hill Trekking is one of the most beautiful and popular short treks in Nepal. It is the experience of watching an incredible sunrise or sunset over the Annapurna Mountains. From the famous Poon Hill, you will observe the effulgent sun rise majestically over the snowcapped peaks of the Annapurna Mountains, a Himalayan range in Nepal.
The Ghorepani/Poon Hill Trek is a moderately easy trek that gives you all of the advantages of trekking in the beautiful Annapurna range without having to do the high elevations. You will see great views of the snow-capped peaks. There are wonderful, quaint Gurung and Magar villages to explore. You will see great flora and fauna, including migratory birds from Siberia that fly over this region twice a year.
Ghorepani has been known for centuries for traders traveling to Tibet. They would stop here for the night. The name literally means “horse water”, as they could stop and refresh their horses with the fresh, cold water that flows through this village.

The Ghore Pani Poon Hill trek is normally a 5-day trek from Pokhara. You can take a long drive from Pokhara to Uleri, and on the same day, you can walk to Ghorepani and stay overnight there. The next day, after breakfast, you can enjoy the trek to Ghandruk village, which is one of the best Gurung villages.

We will pick you up at the airport and drop you off at your hotel. Be refreshed, rest, and walk around Thamel; it is one of the best tourist activities. You can go shopping if you don’t have enough trekking equipment, which you can buy or rent, and have dinner. Stay overnight in Kathmandu.
After breakfast, we are driven by tourist coach to Pokhara, which takes around 6 hours. Then, after reaching Pokhara, check into your room and be refreshed. Then, we will spend the rest of the time relaxing in the beautiful lakeside town of Pokhara, having dinner and staying overnight at Pokhara.
After breakfast in the early morning, we will drive to Nayapul, which is about 1 hour and 15 minutes away. We will start our trek from Nayapul and walk through many local villages, tea houses, gentle green rolling hills, rivers, and local people. After crossing the Tikhedunga Khola on the suspension bridge, the trail begins to climb quite steeply on a stone staircase that has more than 3200 steps. After climbing the hill to Ulleri village, we can see and enjoy Mt. Annapurna south (7219m.) and Hiunchuli (6441m.). and then stay overnight at Ullri village.
After breakfast, it is a very pleasant part of the walk to Ghorepani. We will spend half the day trekking inside the jungle. If it’s springtime, you will see a lot of rhododendron flowers in your way. You will have the chance to see many wild birds and animals. You can have a great view of many snow-capped mountains. Ulleri to Ghorepani and then overnight at Ghorepani Village.
We will wake up early in the morning, put on some warm clothes, and climb up to Poonhill (3210 m). It is not necessary to take much with us, as we will return to collect our main rucksacks. After an hour’s walk, we will get to Poonhill (3210m). You will see the best sunrise and a magnificent view of the Himalayas like Annapurna South, Bahari Shikhar, Hiuchuli, Nilgiri, Dhaulagiri ranges, Tukuche Peak, Annapurna I, II, III, IV, Lamjung Himal, Mt.Manaslu ranges, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), and others. After this unforgettable experience, we will come back to Ghorepani for breakfast.
The hike starts with quite a steep uphill section to Deurali Pass. It has a similar elevation to Poonhill. We can see all the mountains from here as well. After that, we will hike down to Tadapani. Again, this is a very nice part of the trek. We can see the snow-capped mountains as well as a lot of green hills. Ghorepani to Tadapani (2660m, 5 hours walking) and then stay overnight at the lodge.
We will have our breakfast while enjoying the view of these mountains. After that, we will hike to Ghandruk Village through the Baisi Kharka (buffalo pasture). We will walk down to Ghandruk Village. After arriving in Ghandruk village, we will have lunch there, and after that, we will visit the village. It is one of the biggest villages for Gurung people. There is the Gurung Culture Museum. We can go and see the lifestyle of the Gurung people.
From this village, we can still see views of snowy peaks. Tadapani to Ghandruk (1939m, 3 hours walking) and then stay overnight at the Lodge of Ghandruk Village.
After having breakfast, we will follow the trail that will lead to the downhill, which almost takes three hours to reach the beautiful village of Syali bazaar. We will continue our walk to Birthati and have lunch, and it’s our last lunch in the mountains. After lunch, we will walk for half an hour and arrive at Nayapul, then drive back to Pokhara and stay overnight in the hotel in Pokhara.
After breakfast, we will leave for Kathmandu by tourist bus. It is a 6-hour journey and overnight in Kathmandu.The journey from Kathmandu to Pokhara by road is incredibly scenic, as it passes through the hills and valleys of Nepal.
