Mount Kailash Mansarovar Yatra in Tibet

     Mount Kailash Mansarovar Yatra

Mt. Kailash, 6714m, is the most sacred mountain in Asia.In May 1993 the government of Nepal and China reached an accord that allowed the first trek across the border between the two countries. Early British explorers is visited Kailash in a variety of disguises, and numerous individual trekkers still manage to make their way into Tibet each year. This trek is possible only in the summer monsoon season from May to September. Mt Kailash is holy to followers of four religions. To Hindus, Kailash is the abode of Shiva and nearby Lake Manasarovar is the Manas or soul of Brahma. Sprawling below Mt. Kailash is the holy lake Manasarovar, where a ritual bath will deliver a pilgrim to Brahma's paradise and a drink of its water relinquishes the sins of a hundred lifetimes.
